Sudden River Surge in Central Colombia Leaves Several Missing

Mesetas: A sudden surge in the Guejar River in central Colombia capsized four rafts and a kayak, leaving several people missing, according to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the surge took place in the municipality of Mesetas, located in the department of Meta. Rescue operations are currently underway, with support from local authorities, firefighters from nearby towns, and aerial assistance provided by the Colombian Aerospace Force.

The individuals who are missing were reportedly engaged in recreational activities when the river unexpectedly swelled. Videos shared on social media imply that more than 20 people might have been affected by the incident, although officials are still in the process of verifying the exact number.
