Zhengzhou: Sugar futures closed higher Thursday in daytime trading on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE). The most active sugar contract for January 2025 delivery gained 27 yuan (3.77 U.S. dollars) to close at 5,845 yuan per tonne.According to Namibia Press Agency, the total trading volume for six listed sugar futures contracts on the ZCE was 248,055.0 lots with a turnover of 14.43 billion yuan. As a significant consumer and importer of sugar worldwide, China listed sugar futures on ZCE in January 2006, providing sugar-related enterprises a platform to hedge against price risks.
