Zhengzhou: Sugar futures closed lower Tuesday in daytime trading on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE). The most active sugar contract for May 2025 delivery lost 6 yuan, equivalent to 83.64 U.S. cents, to close at 5,919 yuan per tonne.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the total trading volume for six listed sugar futures contracts on the ZCE was 191,272.0 lots, with a turnover of 11.28 billion yuan. China, as a significant consumer and importer of sugar, introduced sugar futures on ZCE in January 2006, enabling sugar-related enterprises to hedge price risks effectively.
