Teenage Boy Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Katima Mulilo

Katima mulilo: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Zambezi Region has registered a culpable homicide case following a tragic incident where a 31-year-old driver reportedly hit and killed a 13-year-old boy.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the NamPol incident report reveals that the accident took place at approximately 06h30 along Dr Hage Geingob Drive, situated between the Soweto and Boma residential areas of Katima Mulilo. The teenage victim was on his way to school when the unfortunate event occurred.

The report alleges that the driver, operating a white Toyota pickup, was traveling from east to west and drove in a reckless manner, resulting in the boy being struck while he was on the shoulder of the road. The victim, identified as Blessings Tongo Simanga, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Following the incident, the driver was arrested and is now facing an additional charge of reckless or negligent driving. Simanga's next of kin have been informed of the tragic loss.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
