Mariental: The police in the Oshikoto Region are investigating a case in which a Namibian minor was allegedly raped by an Angolan national.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi stated that the victim is 14 years old and the suspect is a 17-year-old domestic worker at the victim's neighbour's house.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday at Onamanyoka village in the Omuthiya Constituency. 'The suspect allegedly snuck into the girl's room and threatened to kill her if she refuses to have sexual intercourse with him,' Shikwambi said. Shikwambi mentioned that the girl's mother saw the boy's footprints the next morning and followed the prints to the girl's room, where the girl informed her about the rape incident. 'He is arrested and is expected to appear before the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court on Monday,' she said.
In another incident on Friday at Onakagala village in the Omuntele area, an 81-year-old pensioner was robbed of N.dollars 2 500 in pension money. Two suspects aged 24 and 26 were arrested. 'The suspects grabbed the victim from behind while he was on his way home and robbed him of his cash,' Shikwambi said. No recovery was made, and the two suspects are expected to appear before the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court on Monday. Police investigations in the two matters continue.
