Rio de janeiro: Former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva is set to leave Fluminense as he seeks to continue his career in Europe, according to Brazilian media reports.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the 41-year-old former Brazil captain is contracted to Fluminense until June 2026 but has informed the Rio de Janeiro club of his plans to return to London to be close to his family, as reported by newspaper O Globo.

The report indicates that Fluminense made efforts to persuade the center-back to remain with the club. However, the decision is described as "irreversible," suggesting that Silva's departure is imminent.

Silva returned to his boyhood club in July last year after concluding a four-year tenure with Chelsea. During his time with Fluminense, he made 46 appearances across all competitions in 2025 and played a pivotal role in helping the team reach the semifinals of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
