Top Score, the leading maize meal brand of Namib Meals, on Tuesday launched its 22nd edition of its 7-A-Side football tournament at the Ramblers soccer stadium in Windhoek.

This year, a total of 52 teams will be competing for top honours, for the tournament that has been sponsored to the tune of N.dollars 151 900 this year.

The tournament includes a floating trophy; gold, silver and bronze medals for the top three winning teams.

Prize money includes N.dollars 13 000 for the winning team, N.dollars 8 000 for the second-place finisher and N.dollars 6 500 for the third-placed team. The fourth-placed team will take home N.dollars 2 500.

Speaking at the launch, Top Score brand manager, Hashipala Shiwa, said despite the economic hardship, Namib Mills is committed to Namibia and this sports initiative.

“We are happy to have 52 teams registered for this year despite the number decreasing from the usual number of 80 plus teams. It’s understandable seeing as the economy is not doing well,” he said.

This year’s championship will see fans and supporters restricted to 200 people at the stadium.

The games will take place every weekend, from Friday 04 February 2022 from 18h00 until late and Saturday from 14h00 until late.
