Truck Falls Into Sinkhole in Japan’s Saitama

Saitama: A road collapsed on Tuesday at an intersection in Japan’s Saitama Prefecture, causing a truck to fall into the sinkhole and trapping the driver, local media reported.



According to Namibia Press Agency, at around 9:40 a.m. local time, authorities received a report of the collapsed road and the fallen truck at an intersection in Saitama, which is close to Tokyo, national broadcaster NHK reported. The sinkhole is reported to be approximately 10 meters in diameter and 5 meters deep.



Emergency services have communicated with the driver, but rescue efforts are proving challenging due to the fragile walls of the hole. Police and firefighters continue to work on the rescue while investigating the details of the incident, according to the report.
