Washington: Approximately 700,000 undocumented immigrants with criminal charges remain on U.S. streets, as the Trump administration emphasizes their deportation alongside other national security priorities, White House Executive Associate Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations Tom Homan stated on Monday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Homan revealed during a White House briefing that around 1.4 million undocumented immigrants have received final removal orders but continue to reside in the U.S., in violation of immigration laws. He reported that approximately 139,000 undocumented immigrants have been deported since January, describing these figures as "good."
At the briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that President Donald Trump would sign an executive order later in the day. The order will direct Attorney General Pam Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to compile a list of "sanctuary cities" in the U.S., where local authorities impede the arrest and deportation of undocumented immigrants.
