Two school learners aged 14 and 15 years died instantly on Saturday after a vehicle they were travelling in rolled several times before coming to halt on the Otjombonde gravel road west of Kalkfeld.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha on Sunday told Nampa that the deceased pupils were identified by their relatives as Terence Mutanga, 14, and Mervin Ochurub, 15.

“Mutanga was a learner at the Kalkfeld Primary School while Ochurub was in Grade 9 at the GK Wahl Combined School at Kalkfeld Settlement,” said Mbeha.

Three occupants including the 24-year-old male driver were travelling in a Toyota pickup at the time of accident, she said.

The trio was on a mission of fetching firewood on a nearby farm when the driver allegedly lost control over the vehicle on a gravel road.

The vehicle rolled several times, Mutanga and Ochurub died on the spot while the driver sustained injuries, Mbeha stated.

A culpable homicide docket was opened against the driver at the Kalkfeld Police Station.
