Tokyo: Japan's House of Representatives was formally dissolved on Friday at the outset of the ordinary parliamentary session.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the general election is set for February 8, with official campaigning starting on January 27. This creates a 16-day campaign period, the shortest in Japan's postwar history.
