Voting Commences in Ohangwena for Regional Elections

Ohangwena: Voting has commenced at Omhedi Palace polling station in the Ohangwena Region for the Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections. Presiding Officer, Lucia Mandume, stated that the elderly, disabled, and pregnant women will be prioritized to vote first. Approximately 20 people were present at the polling station in the early morning hours.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Kolele Kamati, aged 70, who cast his vote at the Engela State Hospital polling station, mentioned that he arrived at the polling station by 5h00. "It is important to vote. I woke up very early because I want my voice to be heard. I am voting because we need services. I am, therefore, encouraging everyone; young and old, to come out in numbers and vote. Do not be discouraged by long queues," he expressed.

The presiding officer at Engela State Hospital polling station, Uria Shimweefeleni, reported that by 7h40, about 30 people had cast their votes.
