Otjimanangombe:Vice President Lucia Witbooi has expressed her commitment to seeking support for the Lucia Witbooi Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre in Otjimanangombe village, which currently accommodates 102 children under the care of two volunteer educators.

According to Namibia Press Agency, during a recent visit to the community ECD centre in the Ruacana Constituency, Witbooi stated that her office would explore ways to ensure the two educators receive remuneration for their work. The centre, established in June 2025, primarily serves children from marginalised communities, particularly the Ovatwe and Ovatjimba.

Witbooi praised the dedication and selfless service of the educators, who continue to provide care and education on a voluntary basis. She noted the financial challenges faced by some parents who are unable to contribute due to a lack of income, though occasionally, some parents do assist the educators.

She emphasized her office's efforts to secure sponsorship for constructing a proper structure for the centre to enhance the learning environment. Witbooi called on corporate entities to support these initiatives, underlining the significance of investing in early childhood development as a means to secure Namibia's future.

The Vice President urged parents and community leaders to ensure regular school attendance and collaboration with educators to address absenteeism. She reiterated the Government's commitment to ensuring that no Namibian child is denied education.

Witbooi's visit to the Kunene Region included engaging with learners, educators, and the wider community, emphasizing the importance of nurturing future leaders, teachers, doctors, and innovators. She called for collective efforts to provide safe and quality education in suitable facilities.
