‘We Aim for Victory at All Stars Tourney’: Katjaimo

Windhoek: The Ovitoto All-Stars are setting their sights on claiming the trophy at the Honourable Vezepa Rodman Katjaimo All-Stars tournament, which features both football and netball competitions this weekend at Khomasdal's Bobby Sissing Stadium.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the tournament, sponsored by the Katutura Central Constituency councillor, aims to promote sports within the community. Ovitoto All-Stars PRO Desmond Katjaimo expressed the team's readiness to compete, emphasizing their determination to secure victories in both the football and netball categories.

Katjaimo stated, "We have prepared well; our teams have been training hard ahead of the competition and the mood in the camp is atmospheric. The players and the technical team are working around the clock to ensure sport glory." The football team is set to face Otjombinde on Saturday, while the netball team will compete against Aminuis the same day.

"We have a good record against Otjombinde, we beat them on many occasions, we hope to keep the same momentum in our encounter. I am confident of victory as the boys look sharp and equal to the task at hand," added Katjaimo. On the netball front, he assured that the team is ready to take on Aminuis with no injuries holding them back.

The tournament kicks off on Friday with a match between Gam All-Stars and Groot Aub at 18h00, followed by Otjituuo facing Katutura Central. A derby match between Otjinene and Epukiro All-Stars will ensue, with Okondjatu battling against Epupa from the Kunene Region in the final match of the day.

Football fixtures will continue with Eiseb opposing Aminuis, and Otjimbingue taking on Ruacana. The netball competition will begin on Saturday, featuring Epukiro against Okondjatu and a derby match between Aminuis and Ovitoto.

The tournament, worth N$50,000, is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, with winners receiving trophies, medals, and cash prizes in both the football and netball categories.
