Burkinabe Prime Minister, Dr. Appolinaire Kyélem de Tambèla said on Tuesday that he and the staff of the Prime Minister's Office sang the anthem of the August 1984 revolution to show the Burkinabe that with the advent of the MPSR2, a new day is dawning on the country."We took up this song to restore hope and show that if on October 15, 1987, the sun set on Burkina Faso, (...) the day appeared again on September 30 (2022 the advent of the MPSR2) to enlighten the Burkinabé.", declared the head of government.The Prime Minister was speaking on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, a date marking the commemoration of the 37th anniversary of the assassination of the father of the Burkinabe revolution, Captain Thomas Sankara.Considering that the meaning of this hymn is profound, Dr Kyélem de Tambèla invited the Burkinabe to meditate on it.The commemoration of the date of the assassination of President Thomas Sankara comes in a context where the 2nd phase of the national days of patriotic commitment and citizen partici pation is being held, scheduled from October 2 to 16, 2024.According to the head of government, the choice of this period to rekindle the flame of patriotism has a double meaning.According to him, the father of the Burkinabe revolution proclaimed his Political Orientation Speech (DOP) on October 2, 1983 and was assassinated on October 15, 1987.Source: Burkina Information Agency
