Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) has announced that the Griquas rugby team’s sponsoring brand is being changed from Tafel Lager to Windhoek Draught.

The team will now be known as the Windhoek Draught Griquas, and the stadium will be known as Windhoek Draught Park.

Daniel Keulder, NBL Global Sponsorship and Events Manager, in a statement on Wednesday said the change is effective from 01 April 2022.

“With an internal shift in focus in South Africa from Tafel Lager to the Windhoek trademark, it made sense to change the sponsoring brand to Windhoek Draught to support this shift,” he explained.

He stated that NBL has a “fantastic” relationship with Griquas under the Tafel Lager brand and wishes to continue this relationship under the Windhoek Draught brand in the coming year.

“The goal of this sponsorship is to speak to two consumer passion points. Their love of great beer combined with their joy and passion for rugby,” said Keulder.
