Michael Hamukwaya, the secretary-general of the Namibia Paralympics Committee, said the time is now for Bradley Murere and Chris Kinda to graduate from the youth structures.

Murere is a T47 athlete competing in the 100 metres (m), 200m and long jump events, while Kinda is a T12 athlete who competes in 100m, 200m and 400m events.

In an interview with Nampa on Saturday after the two athletes competed in their first international event of the year in Stellenbosch, South Africa, Hamukwaya said the two sprinters have been long in the NPC system and the time is now ripe for them to show the world what they can do.

“Murere and Kinda have been on the NPC books for a while they understand how things work. These two have competed in South Africa, while Bradley has been at the World Athletics Championships as well as a Grand Prix, which means as an athlete he is starting to ripen. What we need at the moment is for them to have a good strength and conditioning program that will help them in building themselves,” he said.

Hamukwaya added that with the right guidance, the two athletes will just need two years to explode.

“It has been a long journey and from our observation, if we put up a good program that is working well in the next two years, we will have these guys as a force to be reckoned with,” said Hamukwaya, who stated that the two athletes just need the right funding to be the best amongst the top athletes in the world.
