Tsumkwe: A 30-year-old woman in the Otjozondjupa Region was arrested on Saturday for the alleged murder of her boyfriend, who died from a deep open head injury at the Gauteng informal area.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Namibian Police Force (NamPol) head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, stated in an interview that the deceased man was identified by his close relatives as 33-year-old Melvin Iiyambo.
Mbeha noted that Iiyambo was allegedly struck on his forehead with a piece of firewood during an argument with the suspect. ‘Preliminary police investigations indicate the suspect allegedly struck the victim on the head with firewood, causing an open wound. Iiyambo later succumbed to this injury,’ said Mbeha.
The woman was arrested and is expected to appear in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Police investigations continue.
