Zambezi region: A woman allegedly drowned in the Zambezi River at Imukusi village in the Musanga area of the Zambezi Region on Sunday. The incident reportedly occurred when she and her husband went to the river to take a bath.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police Force's official incident report states that the husband came to report that his wife, identified as Purity Nakamwi Mukelebai, had drowned in the river. Her body was subsequently found floating in the river.

The exact age of the deceased could not be established at this time. Her next of kin have been informed, and her body was transported to the Katima Mulilo District Hospital's mortuary. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Police investigations into the drowning incident are ongoing.
