Rundu: A woman who allegedly poured boiling oil on her husband's face and left arm while he was sleeping, was denied bail in the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the incident occurred at Mayara village in the Kavango West Region on Sunday. The 48-year-old Maria Namutenya Neromba appeared before Magistrate George Matali and faces charges of attempted murder. She was refused bail due to the seriousness of the offence.

Her case has been postponed to 04 September 2025 to allow for further investigation. Court documents also reveal that Neromba previously appeared in court in 2022 on charges of malicious damage to property, for which she was granted N.dollars 1 000 bail. Details regarding the damaged property were not specified in the court documents.
