Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday emphasized the importance of learning from the legacy of veteran leader Chen Yun, urging an enterprising spirit and dedication to strengthening China. Xi, who also holds the positions of general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made these comments during a meeting at the Great Hall of the People. The event marked the 120th anniversary of Chen Yun's birth.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Chen Yun, born in 1905, joined the Party in 1925 and was acknowledged as a significant proletarian revolutionary and statesman. He played a critical role in establishing the country's socialist economy and was a key figure in the Party's first generation of central collective leadership with Mao Zedong and the second generation under Deng Xiaoping.
