Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his readiness to continue collaborating with U.S. President Donald Trump to fortify the foundation of bilateral ties and foster a positive environment for development in both nations. During their meeting, Xi emphasized the stable nature of China-U.S. relations under their joint leadership.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Xi stated that history and current realities suggest that China and the United States should be partners and friends. Acknowledging the divergent national conditions, Xi noted that occasional frictions between the world's two leading economies are normal. He stressed the importance of maintaining the right course amid challenges, ensuring the steady advancement of China-U.S. relations.
Xi highlighted the positive momentum in China's economy, which grew by 5.2 percent in the first three quarters of this year, with a 4 percent expansion in trade. Despite domestic and external challenges, Xi expressed confidence in China's ability to navigate risks and challenges, describing the economy as resilient and promising.
At the 20th CPC Central Committee's fourth plenary session, recommendations for China's economic and social development over the next five years were adopted. Xi emphasized China's commitment to managing its own affairs while sharing development opportunities globally. He underscored China's focus on deepening reforms, expanding opening up, and promoting higher-quality economic growth.
Economic and trade teams from both countries have exchanged views on important issues, reaching consensus on resolving various challenges. Xi called for the timely implementation of these agreements to boost confidence in both the bilateral and global economies. He stressed that business relations should anchor China-U.S. ties, advocating for cooperation over confrontation.
Xi identified areas for potential collaboration, such as combating illegal immigration, telecom fraud, anti-money laundering, artificial intelligence, and responding to infectious diseases. He urged strengthened dialogue and exchanges, particularly through regional and international platforms, to enhance mutual understanding and benefit both nations.
Xi concluded by highlighting the significance of upcoming global events, with China set to host APEC in 2026 and the United States the G20 summit next year. He expressed optimism that both summits could promote world economic growth and improve global economic governance.
