The battle for bragging rights in the Okahandja Football League has intensified with seven teams set to scrabble for the league top honour as Young Fresh yet again retained the league top spot after defeating California 2-0.

The weekend fixtures produced eight matches, with five more to go. Saturday fixtures saw Mikra continuing their slump, losing their fourth consecutive match after going down to Oshako Football Club by four goals to one. Oshako then on Sunday played out to a two-all draw against mid-table Northern United picking up four points over the weekend.

The biggest upset of the weekend came from the in-form Legends team who completely outplayed and demolished the youthful Battle Boys by nine goals to nil, while Guardians FC also recorded a win away against Mikra FC.

With just five games to go, Young Fresh lead the league on 19 points after recording six wins, one draw and a single defeat from the possible eight games, followed by Guardians on 19, Dollar United 18, Okahandja FC 17, Oshako and Smokkel Boys on 15, and Legends set at the seventh spot on 13 points.

Battle Boys and Okakambe FC are set to record victories, thus sitting on 13th and 14th position respectively on two points and one point. Meanwhile, Okahandja FC’s forward Wesley Owoseb appears to be running away with the top scorer award as he managed another hat-trick to take his tally to 13 goals for this inaugural season.
