Zambian National Charged for Alleged Possession of Game Meat

Katima mulilo: A Zambian male suspect is expected to appear in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate's Court on Monday after he was reportedly found in possession of game meat without a valid permit on Friday afternoon. The incident took place at Luhingi Fish Reserve in the Kongola constituency, and the suspect was charged in accordance with the Nature Conservation Ordinance Act 4 of 1975 as amended.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) incident report stated, "The suspect had no valid permit to be in possession of a Lichwe game meat valued at N. dollars 25 000." The suspect's name is known but withheld pending his court appearance.

In another separate incident, a male suspect was arrested on Friday night on the Mafuta road in the Katima Mulilo district while allegedly driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and without a driver's licence. Additionally, two more suspects were arrested in the early morning hours of Saturday for alleged driving while under the influence of alcohol.

All suspects are held in the Katima Mulilo police holding cells pending formal charges and court appearances on Monday. Police investigations continue.
