Windhoek: Namibia's premier international cycling event, the Tour de Windhoek, was officially launched on Thursday, with organisers promising an exciting and memorable edition of the race.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the 2026 Tour de Windhoek is scheduled to take place from 13 to 16 August, bringing together elite and emerging cyclists who will compete across challenging and scenic routes throughout the country. Pupkewitz Megabuild Managing Director, Martin Schoeman, confirmed the company's continued commitment as title sponsor of the Tour de Windhoek 2026, reinforcing its support for the growth of Namibia's flagship cycling event and the development of sport in the country.

Schoeman expressed delight in being the title sponsor, emphasizing the event's role as a platform for cycling excellence in Namibia. He noted that the sponsorship reflects Pupkewitz Megabuild's broader vision of improving lives and contributing to a progressive and sustainable Namibia. The support of strategic partners like Pupkewitz Motors and Agrimark enhances the event's success by providing essential logistical and operational support.

Executive Director in the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture, Gerald Vries, reaffirmed the government's commitment to creating an enabling environment for sport in Namibia. He highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in strengthening athlete development pathways and expanding access to competitive opportunities.
