36 Equities Sustain Market Capitalisation Gain

Transactions in Nigeria’s local bourse ended positive on Tuesday as 36 stocks appreciated in price to keep the market capitalisation above N30 trillion amid renewed profit-taking.

The Exchange recorded a sustained positive sentiment in the market with major market indices, the All-Share Index and Market Capitalization inching up by 0.9 percentage points.

Investors gained additional N260 billion on market capitalisation to close Tuesday’s trading session at N30.400 trillion higher than Monday’s N30.140 trillion.

Consequently, the All-Share Index, ASI inched up by 477.84 basis points representing a 0.9% increase to close at 55,806.26 points higher than the 55,328.42 of the previous day.

At the end of the day’s trade 36 stocks made it to the gainers list with 10 decliners.

Specifically, the market witnessed profit-taking on MRS, STANBIC and CILEASING shares as their respective prices increased by 10%, 9.88% and 9.64% to close at N36.85k, N41.70k and N3.98k.

On the flipside, MULTIVERSE, CWG and FLOUR MILLS shares dropped by 10%, 9.09% and 8.44% on their respective prices to close at N3.96k, N0.90k and N32.00.

Also, the trading session ended with 237.17 million units of shares that exchanged hands in 4,435 deals.
