Baglung: A passenger sport utility vehicle skidded off the highway in central Nepal on Friday evening, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to 12 others, police reported on Saturday. The vehicle, carrying a total of 16 passengers, plunged 60 meters off a cliff in the Baglung district.
According to Namibia Press Agency, two people lost their lives at the scene, another died en route to the hospital, and one more person passed away during treatment. The injured passengers are currently receiving medical care at two local hospitals, as stated by Anand Basnet, a district police officer.
Basnet indicated that a preliminary investigation suggested that the vehicle may have been overloaded, which could have contributed to the accident. Traffic accidents are a significant concern in mountainous regions like Nepal, where hundreds of lives are lost each year due to such incidents.
