6 gunmen killed in attack on Nigerian police facility

Nigerian police killed six gunmen yesterday who attacked a police facility in the southern state of Anambra, Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the police, said in a statement.

Outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members attacked a police station in the early hours yesterday in the Oyi local government area of the state, said Ikenga.

Six of them were killed and several others escaped with gunshot injuries.

One policeman was seriously wounded, he added.

An office in the facility was partially damaged by a petrol bomb thrown by gunmen.
