Yangon: Myanmar authorities have seized 74 kg of opium and other narcotics in eastern Shan state, the state-owned daily The Mirror reported on Friday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, anti-narcotics police, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a vehicle in Pinlaung township of Shan state on October 23. In the operation, several types of narcotic drugs were confiscated.
The seized narcotics included 74 kg of opium, 9 kg of "happy water," 1,000 ecstasy pills, 11.2 kg of ketamine, and 114,000 stimulant tablets. A suspect was arrested in connection with the case.
The suspect has been charged under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law. Further investigations are ongoing to arrest other individuals involved in the case.
