Windhoek: On August 12, Ambassador Zhao Weiping delivered remarks at the China-Namibia Zero Tariff Preferential Agreement Public-Private Dialogue, which was co-hosted by the Namibia Investment Promotion Development Board (NIPDB), Namibia Trade Forum, and Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry.According to African Press Organization, Ambassador Zhao emphasized that China's zero-tariff treatment to African countries having diplomatic relations with China is a reflection of China-Africa friendship. This policy demonstrates China's commitment, as a major developing country, to promoting South-South cooperation and contributing to the common development of the Global South through concrete actions. The agreement is expected to help Namibia increase exports to China, attract foreign investment, and accelerate its industrialization process. Ambassador Zhao expressed China's readiness to collaborate with Namibia to seize the opportunity presented by President Nerumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's successful visit to China to elevate practical cooperation between the two countries to a new level.More than 50 representatives from the Ministry of International Relations and Trade of Namibia, Namibia Revenue Agency, and other government departments, along with business leaders, participated in the dialogue. Participants highly praised China's zero-tariff policy.
