Diva United Triumphs in U 15 HAM Heroes Cup

Windhoek: Diva United Football Club emerged victorious in the Under-15 category at the inaugural Honourable Anselm Marungu (HAM) Heroes Cup held in Nyondo village, Ndonga Linena Constituency. The team secured their championship title after defeating Ndonga FC with a score of 4-2 in the final match. The Under-15 competition saw participation from approximately 15 teams.According to Namibia Press Agency, in the volleyball competition, Hotfire secured the top position by defeating Nyaka-Nyaka 2-0 in the final. Six teams competed in the volleyball category. Results for the Legends, Football Team A, and netball categories are anticipated to be released on Wednesday.The HAM Heroes Cup began on 28 August and will continue until 02 September 2026. This is the first time the event is hosted in the Ndonga Linena Constituency. The tournament was initiated by Ndonga Linena Constituency councillor Anselm Marungu, who also serves as the Deputy Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism.At the official opening of t he tournament, Marungu highlighted that the event was designed to promote sports and bring government services closer to the community. Government institutions, including Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, were present to provide services to participants and spectators during the games.Marungu emphasized that the HAM Heroes Cup serves as a platform for accessing government services, allowing attendees to obtain important national documents while enjoying the matches. Other institutions such as the Rundu Vocational Training Centre, Standard Bank, and the Namibia University of Science and Technology also showcased their services.Marungu urged young individuals to leverage their talents and interests, stating that sports could aid in developing discipline and creating opportunities. Former Deputy Prime Minister John Mutorwa is the patron of the HAM Heroes Cup but was unable to attend the opening due to his commitments in Windhoek for a Swapo central committee meeting.
