Angolan Cattle Herder Found Dead in Otamanzi

Otamanzi: The Namibian Police Force's Omusati Regional Commander, Ismale Basson, has confirmed a case of suicide after an Angolan cattle herder was found hanging at a cattle post in the Otamanzi area. The incident, which occurred on Monday, has raised concerns among the local community.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Basson stated that the incident took place around 08h00 at the Eeshipu cattle post in the Otamanzi Constituency. The deceased, employed as a cattle herder, left the cattle post and did not return for several hours. Fellow cattle herders, concerned by his prolonged absence, followed his footprints around 14h00.

The search led to the discovery of the 54-year-old man's lifeless body hanging from a tree a few metres north of the cattle post, with a rope around his neck. The deceased has been identified as an Angolan national from Chibia in Huila Province. Basson confirmed that no foul play is suspected, and no suicide note was found.

The next of kin have not yet been identified, although the deceased's employer has been informed. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
