Windhoek: The newly established political group, the Association for Localised Interests (Asoli), has declared its intention to participate in the local authority elections. The group is specifically targeting municipalities in the Khomas, Otjozondjupa, Erongo, and Oshana regions.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Asoli recently registered with the Electoral Commission of Namibia and has laid out an ambitious plan to contest seats in the councils of Windhoek, Karibib, Swakopmund, Ongwediva, and Otjiwarongo. These efforts are part of the Regional Council and Local Authority elections scheduled for 26 November 2025.

In a media statement, Asoli president Joseph Kauandenge expressed satisfaction with the party's growth over the past three months, stating it has 'far exceeded our expectations.' Kauandenge highlighted that the party aims to participate actively in the upcoming elections following the release of the 2025 election calendar by the electoral commission.

Kauandenge urged individuals who have turned 18 and those wishing to change constituencies to ensure they register during the supplementary registration set for August. He emphasized Asoli's focus on engaging young voters, with the goal of refreshing the political landscape by attracting younger demographics and shaping future public servants.

He stressed the importance of youth participation, noting that local authorities play a crucial role in addressing basic necessities and essential services. Kauandenge called for young people to make their voices heard in the electoral process and contribute to shaping effective, people-centered leadership at the local level.
