Barcelona: FC Barcelona maintained their position at the top of La Liga with a commanding 3-0 win over Oviedo, while Real Madrid continued their resurgence with a solid 2-0 victory against Villarreal.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Barcelona faced a challenging first half at Camp Nou, as bottom-placed Oviedo put up a strong defensive performance, limiting the Catalans to few opportunities. However, the match turned in favor of Barcelona after halftime due to critical errors from Oviedo. Dani Olmo capitalized on a defensive lapse to break the deadlock in the 52nd minute. Just four minutes later, an errant backpass allowed Raphinha to extend the lead, and a misjudged clearance from Oviedo's Aaron Escandell was punished by Lamine Yamal, sealing the 3-0 victory.

Real Madrid's win over Villarreal marked a successful test for the team under new coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who recently took over from Xabi Alonso. The first half was uneventful, with Villarreal losing Juan Foyth to a serious injury. Real Madrid improved significantly in the second half, creating sufficient chances and restricting Villarreal's offensive efforts. Kylian Mbappe was the star of the match, scoring both goals that reaffirmed Real Madrid's positive trajectory under Arbeloa.

Atletico Madrid also enjoyed success, cruising to a 3-0 victory over Mallorca. Goals from Alexander Sorloth, an own goal, and Thiago Almada ensured a comfortable win for Diego Simeone's squad, who remain third in the league standings. Meanwhile, Mallorca remains just above the relegation zone and faces a challenging schedule ahead that could put coach Jagoba Arrasate under pressure.

In contrast, Athletic Bilbao finds themselves in a precarious position following a 2-1 defeat to Sevilla. A handball from Yuri Berchiche resulted in a penalty, which Akor Adams converted to secure the win for Sevilla. Despite a recent Champions League victory over Atalanta, Athletic's league form continues to suffer, with injuries and fatigue contributing to their struggles. With no league win since early December, Athletic is now embroiled in a relegation battle, only three points clear of the drop zone.
