Speed Skating World Cup Inzell: Dutch and Polish Stars Shine on Final Day

Inzell: The Netherlands and Poland were the standout teams on the final day of the ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Inzell, Germany.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Netherlands clinched gold in both the women's mass start and the women's team sprint, while Poland triumphed in the second 500m races for both men and women. In a remarkable performance, Poland's Damian Zurek set a track record with a time of 34.06 seconds in the men's second 500m. American skater Jordan Stolz, who had already secured the season title in the event, came in second, just 0.04 seconds behind. Poland's Marek Kania took third place with a time of 34.29 seconds.

The women's second 500m title was claimed by Poland's Kaja Ziomek-Nogal. Meanwhile, in the women's team sprint, the Netherlands emerged victorious, followed by Canada and host Germany in second and third places, respectively. The United States secured gold in the men's team sprint, beating Norway by 0.66 seconds, while the Netherlands finished third and China eighth.

The mass start titles were claimed by Czech skater Metodej Jilek in the men's race and Dutch skater Marijke Groenewoud in the women's race. China also posted commendable results in Division B, with Yu Shihui winning the women's second 500m Division B in 38.18 seconds, marking a personal best, and Ahenar Adake finishing second in the women's mass start Division B in 8:48.11.

The Inzell stop marked the conclusion of the 2025-2026 ISU Speed Skating World Cup season, which consisted of five events. The first four stops, held in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, and Norway, served as Olympic qualifying competitions. The speed skating community will now shift its focus to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, with events scheduled from February 7 to 21.
