BoN appoints Eiman as FIC acting director

The Anti-Money Laundering and Combatting the Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation Council has appointed Gerrit Eiman as Acting Director of Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), effective 01 January 2022.

In a statement on Friday the council chairperson and Bank of Namibia Governor, Johannes !Gawaxab said Eiman will be acting in the position until such time a substantive director is appointed.

Eiman is currently the deputy director in FIC responsible for financial investigations and analysis, as well as law enforcement and prosecutorial support.

“Eiman is a law enforcement expert with 30 years experience in various law enforcement disciplines and an admitted legal practitioner of the High Court. He has been at the FIC for more than 13 years and the Council is confident that with the support of the management of the FIC and staff, he will acquit himself well in this role,” said !Gawaxab.

The appointment of Eiman as acting director of FIC came after the current director of FIC, Leonie Dunn was appointed by President Hage Geingob as the second Deputy Governor in terms of the Bank of Namibia Act, 2020 (Act 1 of 2020), effective on 01 January 2022.
