Sanaa:Cabinet The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) has been tasked by the Cabinet to create a standardised reporting template for government services offered online.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the announcement was made by Minister Emma Theofelus during a Cabinet briefing. This directive follows the 32nd and 33rd Cabinet meetings, held on 29 September and 06 October 2026. The standardised template will be distributed to various government bodies for quarterly reporting.
In addition, the ministry is directed to promote awareness of the Electronic Government Application and Reporting (EGAR) system. This will occur through quarterly meetings with public relations officers to enhance understanding of online services.
On the topic of wildlife conservation, the Cabinet acknowledged the issue of illegal hunting of rhinos and elephants. It endorsed the implementation of the revised National Strategy on Wildlife and Environmental Protection for 2026 to 2035, which sets out policy directives and a framework for conservation efforts.
The Cabinet also reviewed the outcomes of the African Union Specialised Technical Committee on Social Development, Labour and Employment session, hosted by Namibia in July 2026. The session emphasized policies to improve social protection systems, address inequalities, and enhance human capital in Africa.
Further, the Cabinet approved a Protocol of Cooperation on Arts and Culture between Namibia and Angola. This agreement allows for the exchange of artists and cultural experts, and cooperation in preserving cultural heritage.
Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was endorsed between Namibia and Angola on education, focusing on personnel development and curriculum research. An MoU with Zimbabwe was also approved to boost cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.
