Windhoek:Otjozondjupa The Central Northern Electricity Distributor (Cenored) has announced a 3.5% increase in electricity tariffs for the 2026/2027 financial year, effective from October 1st.

According to Namibia Press Agency , the increase will apply to all customers in the Otjozondjupa and Omaheke regions. Cenored spokesperson Chali Matengu stated that the tariff adjustment follows the official approval by the Electricity Control Board (ECB) this year, in line with the Electricity Act No. 4 of 2007.

Despite the general tariff increase, the ECB levy on each electricity unit purchased will remain at 2.12 cents per kilowatt-hour. The revenue from the new tariffs will help maintain and upgrade Cenored's electricity network infrastructure in the regions, which is crucial for ensuring reliable and continuous electricity supply.

Cenored plans to release specific details of the new electricity prices for domestic, commercial, and industrial categories.
