Sofia: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday sent a congratulatory message to Mohi El-Din Salem on his assuming office as Sudanese minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation. Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the longstanding relationship between China and Sudan.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Wang emphasized the deep traditional friendship between the two nations, which have supported each other since establishing diplomatic ties over 60 years ago. He recalled the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chairman of Sudan's Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit last year, which set strategic directions for bilateral relations.
Wang noted that the year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Sudan strategic partnership. He expressed willingness to work with Salem to implement the consensus achieved by their leaders, enhance communication and coordination between their foreign ministries, and further develop the strategic partnership.
