Chinese Shares Close Mixed with Slight Gains in Shanghai

Beijing: Chinese stocks closed mixed on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index showing a minor increase of 0.02 percent to settle at 3,473.13 points. Meanwhile, the Shenzhen Component Index experienced a downturn, closing 0.7 percent lower at 10,435.51 points.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of the two indices amounted to 1.21 trillion yuan (approximately 169.22 billion U.S. dollars), marking a decrease from the previous trading day's turnover of 1.43 trillion yuan. The power and ceramics sectors emerged as the most resilient performers, while biopharmaceutical and brewing stocks experienced notable declines.

The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, fell by 1.21 percent, closing at 2,130.19 points on Monday.
