Beijing: Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.73 percent to 3,986.9 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also experienced a decline, closing 1.16 percent lower at 13,532.13 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices stood at 2.42 trillion yuan (about 341.5 billion U.S. dollars), marking an increase from the previous trading day's 2.26 trillion yuan. Shares related to lithium mines and quantum technology led the gains, whereas those connected to co-packaged optics faced significant losses.
Additionally, the ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.84 percent, closing at 3,263.02 points on Thursday.
