Beijing: Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.05 percent to 3,346.84 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also saw a decline, closing 0.41 percent lower at 10,091.16 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.01 trillion yuan (approximately 140.6 billion U.S. dollars), which is a decrease from 1.16 trillion yuan on the previous trading day. Shares related to printing and packaging, paper-making, and textile equipment led the gains, while sectors such as auto manufacturing, liquor-making, and biopharmaceuticals experienced notable losses.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, fell by 0.8 percent to close at 2,005.26 points on Monday.
