Zhengzhou: Cotton futures closed lower Tuesday in daytime trading on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE). The most active cotton contract for January 2025 delivery lost 145 yuan (about 20.16 U.S. dollars) to close at 14,045 yuan per tonne.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the total trading volume for six listed cotton futures contracts on the ZCE was 442,942 lots, with a turnover of 31.23 billion yuan. As the world’s largest producer, consumer, and exporter of textiles, China listed cotton futures on the ZCE in June 2004, assisting cotton-related enterprises in hedging against price risks.
