Ondangwa: Murder accused Sinskus Johannes made a brief appearance in the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court on Thursday before Magistrate Nelao Ya France, where his case was postponed to 20 October 2026 for further investigation.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Johannes faces charges of murder and attempted murder in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in January this year in the Oshikoto Region, where he allegedly shot Likokola village deputy headman Sam Nepando and seriously injured headman and Executive Director of the National Planning Commission, I-Ben Nashandi during the incident.

During the court proceedings, State prosecutor Christa Nauises strongly opposed bail. She argued that the charges against the accused are of a serious nature and that it would not be in the public interest to grant him release at this stage.

Nauises further told the court that police investigations are still ongoing and expressed concern that Johannes could interfere with witnesses or compromise the investigation if released on bail.

Magistrate Ya France agreed to postpone the case to allow investigations to continue and for outstanding legal issues to be addressed.

Johannes remains in custody and is expected to return to court on 20 October 2026 for the continuation of the proceedings.
