The Erongo Region recorded the highest number of cases at five, while Khomas, Oshana, ||Kharas and Otjozondjupa recorded one case each.

None of the positive cases have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

A total number of 50 new recoveries were also announced, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 124 518.

A cumulative number of 320 985 people had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by Monday, of which 49 522 had received the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, translating into 203 710 people being fully vaccinated.

The minister further announced that the country is celebrating yet another important milestone in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, because it is the first time in 447 days that the ministry recorded a number of new infections in 24 hours which is less than 10, with this feat last achieved on 17 June 2020.

“This new development gives us the confidence that we are on the path of recovery. This should reinforce our resolve to forge ahead with observation of public health measures and to increase vaccination uptake in order to return Namibia to full normal life we used to know before the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Shangula.
