COVID-19: Namibia records two new cases and one death

Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula, has announced that Namibia on Tuesday recorded two new COVID-19 cases and one death, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 3 566.

In an update issued Wednesday, Shangula said the new cases formed part of 902 tested samples and represented a 0.2 per cent positivity ratio. Both new cases are males from the Khomas Region and they are aged 37 and 41.

They were not vaccinated.

Namibia on Tuesday had 110 active cases of which 10 were hospitalised, with three people admitted to intensive care units.

Fifteen recoveries were also announced, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 125 381.

A cumulative 348 224 people had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by Tuesday, of which 66 758 had received the single dose Janssen & Johnson vaccine, while 219 264 people had received two doses.
