Windhoek:Canada forward Cyle Larin faces potential absence from his team's soccer friendly against Peru due to a back problem, as reported by head coach Jesse Marsch on Friday. Larin, who participated in Canada's 1-0 victory over Chile in Toronto last Saturday, sustained the injury in a gym accident.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Marsch stated that Larin injured his back while lifting weights. The 31-year-old Southampton player will be assessed until the morning of Saturday's match to determine his availability, while all other players are fit to play.

The match at Saputo Stadium will allow each team to make up to 11 substitutions. Marsch plans to utilize this rule to provide opportunities for various players to participate in the game. He emphasized the importance of not underestimating Peru, acknowledging their strong performance in a recent 1-1 draw with Mexico.

Marsch praised Peru's spirited play against Mexico, noting their ability to challenge their opponents effectively. He mentioned that Peru is likely to carry the positive momentum from that match into their upcoming game against Canada.
