Defensa y Justicia Sinks Argentinos Juniors to Go Top of Group

Buenos aires: Juan Gutierrez scored in the second half as Defensa y Justicia climbed to the top of Group A in Argentina's Primera Division on Friday with a 1-0 home win over Argentinos Juniors. Gutierrez put his side ahead with a glancing header in the 47th minute after Lucas Gonzalez's inch-perfect cross.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Defensa y Justicia now has 19 points from 12 games, a point ahead of second-placed Central Cordoba. Boca Juniors is third, a point further back but with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Central Cordoba extended its impressive run of form with a 3-1 home win over Union Santa Fe. Jonathan Galvan, Lucas Besozzi, and Matias Perello were on target for the hosts while Rodrigo Colazo pulled a late goal back for Union.

Elsewhere, Newell's Old Boys drew 1-1 at home to Tigre and San Martin edged to a 1-0 home victory over San Lorenzo.
