Eenhana: The Eenhana Town Council has cleared its debt of over N.dollars 13 million with NamWater. Eenhana Mayor Omri-Onn Kavandje told Nampa on Thursday that this achievement marks a significant milestone in the council's commitment to sound financial management and responsible governance.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Mayor Kavandje expressed his satisfaction with the council's accomplishment, emphasizing that settling the NamWater debt was a priority since he assumed office. He proudly noted that they have achieved this goal well before the end of their five-year term. Kavandje highlighted this as a demonstration of the council's dedication to transparent and effective leadership.

The mayor indicated that resolving the NamWater debt is a major step in stabilizing the town's financial standing. He credited innovative strategies and stronger financial prudence for this success. Despite this notable achievement, Kavandje pointed out that the council still faces the challenge of recovering over N.dollars 50 million owed by residents and institutions.

Alarmingly, more than N.dollars 7.8 million of this outstanding debt is attributed to government offices, ministries, and agencies. Kavandje expressed concern that this persistent situation hampers the council's ability to meet its financial obligations to other creditors and delays key service delivery initiatives.

He appealed to the residents of Eenhana to contribute to the town's development by paying their municipal bills on time. Kavandje stressed that paying municipal bills is not just a legal responsibility, but a civic duty that enables the council to continue delivering essential services and implementing important capital projects.

Kavandje reiterated the council's commitment to responsible financial management and called on all stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and government institutions, to support the town's development by settling outstanding accounts and engaging constructively with the council.
