Windhoek: The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), through the Namibia Football Association (NFA), has donated 260 footballs to the Directorate of Education in the Otjozondjupa Region. The donation was made on Tuesday and aims to enhance sports activities in local schools.According to Namibia Press Agency, the NFA chairperson in Otjozondjupa, Percy Khairabeb, presented the footballs to the education regional director, Gerhard Ndafenongo, at a ceremony held in Otjiwarongo. Out of the total, 160 balls will be distributed to schools with coaches who had undergone training with the NFA in May 2023.Khairabeb expressed enthusiasm during the handover, highlighting the importance of the donation to the schools in the region. "We are really excited to witness this handing over to the schools in our region as they are most needed," he stated.Ndafenongo emphasized the benefits that football training brings to learners, including discipline, skills training, and physical fitness. He commended th e initiative and encouraged the targeted schools to actively participate in the program. "So this is a commendable job done, and I wish to encourage all of the targeted schools in the region to fully participate," Ndafenongo remarked.The event also saw the attendance of sports officers from various localities within the region, including Okakarara, Tsumkwe, Grootfontein, Okahandja, and Otjiwarongo.
